The city is much older than you think at first glance: Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre and crowned her queen of England in 12th century. This happened inside the Limassol Castle, which surely is the main historic site in Limassol.

Although the structure is not very impressive today, it is still of its own historical importance. And there is a quite interesting medieval museum inside, which is worth a visit.
